What is Sounding?

What is it?

It’s the involvement of inserting a toy into the Urethra…
This form of sexual play originated from a medical procedure for unblocking the Urethra, whether it be constricted by scar tissue (usually from multiple/prolonged UTI’s) or being obstructed by a foreign particle. If done properly and safely can be a pleasurable form of sexual play.

Why would you do it?

The Urethra runs along very sensitive areas full of pleasure nerves, these are the head of the penis (glans) and the clitoris… stimulation of the urethra can feel pleasurable as it stimulates those nerves directly and if inserted deep enough can stimulate the prostate.

What does it feel like?

Each person is different with their sensitivity.
It can feel like you want to urinate or a scratching feeling inside your urethra, so depending on your sexual taste, pain sensitivity and experimental pleasures the experience will be subjective to the individual.

Will it stretch my urethra?

If done once in a while there will be no effect to the size of your urethra but if done on a regular basis and your experimenting with different size toys (larger/textured) your urethra will start to stretch.

Risks

With everything there are risks.
This practise there are risks but if done properly can be greatly reduced.

UTI’S – You could get a UTI if your toy is not sanitised properly or bacteria gets into your urethra, so make sure all your toys are sanitised thoroughly and always use a water based lubricant.

Damaged Tissue – If you are too rough or not using enough lube you could damage tissue so make sure to be gentle, relax and use plenty of water based lubricant.

Toy getting stuck – Inserting the toy too deep into the urethra or not using enough lubricant could cause the toy to get stuck.

Will this affect urination?

This won’t affect urination but could sting whilst urinating after a sounding session.

What should I use?

When choosing a toy here are a few things to consider.
What type?
Plugs – These go in about an inch and usually have a ball or hoop around them.

Sounders – These are longer cylindrical shaped toys that go deeper into the urethra.

Catheter – Made for medical procedures that are inserted into the urethra.

MATERIALS
Surgical Steel – Easy to insert due to being a heavier weight.
Silicone and Plastic – a lot softer and flexible but can be a more difficult to insert due to the friction of the material.

Textures
You can get different textures for your pleasure and sensitivity levels, these include…
Smooth, Rigid, Wavy, Ribbed, Studded

These are just a few things to think about if you’re wondering about the practise of sounding.
This is not everyone’s taste but if done properly and safely can be a very pleasurable experience.
