What are Kegel balls? Do they work?

I’m sure many of you have heard of Kegel Balls or Be-Wa balls at this point, Ben-wa balls have gained traction over the years due to certain popular pieces of media. Though not a lot of people understand their intended use. These tools are used to promote all sorts of health benefits and are sure to help in the bed room as well. Let’s start with the basics

What are Kegels?

Kegel balls or Ben wa balls are a tool used to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. This is commonly called the Kegel Muscle, also known as the Pubococcygeus (PC) Muscle. The PC muscle is the muscle you clench when you are trying not to urinate. That squeeze motion, I’m sure your familiar with, is the basis of Kegel exercises. Which rely on repeated contraction and release in order to strengthen.

What can Kegel exercises help with?

Although most Kegel exercise tools are marketed to those with vaginas, everyone can do them. Kegel exercises are recommended for a variety of different health benefits. Strengthening the Kegel muscle can help treat urinary incontinence, speed up vaginal recovery post-pregnancy, and treat inflammation of the prostate gland. However, like any exercise, doing it without any pre-existing medical condition is still a healthy choice.

Additionally, Kegel exercises can also benefit your sex life. The tightening motion of Kegel exercises may feel familiar as it is similar to that of contractions that occur during climax. Stronger Kegels lead to stronger contractions and ramp up the potential to have more explosive orgasms. Though Kegel exercises do not tighten the vagina, they do allow for greater control of the vaginal muscles.

Strengthening your Kegel muscles is also recommended to help address premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and difficulties orgasming in general. As it gives you better control over orgasms and ejaculation.

Try squeezing your pelvic muscles, holding for three seconds, and then relax for three seconds repeat this exercise ten to fifteen times per session. It’s recommended to do this a couple of times a day. Luckily it’s an exercise you can do anywhere, anytime.

How do Kegel balls work?

Kegel balls help eliminate the need to concentrate on the action, no need to count sets or seconds, or remember to do them at all. These exercise balls directly stimulate the Kegel muscle, which can make it easier for those who have a hard time isolating theirs. Kegel balls are body-safe hollow balls with free floating weights inside of them. Once they are resting in the vagina the weight will bounce around forcing the muscles to naturally tighten around them.
