Body Safe Massage Oils

What is and isn’t safe to put in our bodies?

We regularly get asked this question, we get told all sorts of things from many of our customers that shock us. We are here to inform you of some of the risks of specific products that are regularly used in intimate situations.

Lets start with Massage oils:

Massage oils are formulated for use outside of the body, all massage oils contain different things from harsher chemicals down to natural oils. Some ingredients may be safe, but don’t let that fool you. Many ingredients used in massage oils are unsafe to use to a variety of reason.

Many essential oils can cause rashes or inflammation when used on sensitive tissue along with bad PH levels, both can disrupt healthy vaginal flora as the vagina cant clear oils quickly, and irritate other soft tissue. A small amount isn’t much to worry about, but we advise you not to use these products deliberately.

If you’re looking for a good massage oil that can be used internally, we recommend a Silicone based lubricant, it’s soft and slippery like massage oils but it completely body safe.

if you want a nice sensual smell to increase the atmosphere I recommend a good candle or melt to make your room smell amazing.

Coconut oil:

This is a big one, you’ll find a variety of information on this topic, and the truth is there isn’t enough sound study to give a solid answer. But here’s what we know about coconut oil and its composition.

Coconut oil has a high PH level of 7 - 8 where the vaginas PH is 3.5 – 4.5, this means that coconut oil could change that balance, making your vagina unable to efficiently defend itself.

A lot of people will tell you this could lead to yeast infections, the effects could lead to it yes, but the oil itself is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and in many cases is used to treat Yeast infections as it breaks down the yeast. Though this is generally recommended orally, it’s also used otherwise.

We don’t recommend using it for lubricant but there is research showing it’s a good treatment and some use it as a lubricant while they are having sensitivities. But keep in mind the PH level isn’t safe for a healthy vagina for extended use.

I hope some of this information helps, I know there are a lot more questions. If your concerned about a product come in-store and ask one of our friendly staff members or email customerservice@nakedpassion.com.au and we will be sure to answer your questions.
